Area Communication/Publishing Director
Asia North Area

Role Expectation:

  • Increase understanding of the Church of Jesus Christ among all God’s children through effective audience understanding and unified communication efforts across the area

  • Manage the Church’s organizational brand and reputation within the area in close alignment with the global branding efforts.

  • Develop branding initiatives, internal communication, and external media relations

  • Build and lead the establishment of strategic relationships with key opinion leaders across the area to help achieve the mission of the Church, strengthen its reputation, and promote religious freedom. This includes government, interfaith, and other community leaders from the national to the local level

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the effort to unify Church communication at the area level through an integrated planning process and alignment with the worldwide plan

  • Develop a team that will help leaders, employees, volunteers, and partners understand audience needs, values and experiences to increase understanding

  • Establish a team that will identify, develop, and maintain key relationships of mutual understanding and trust with leaders, organizations, and influencers

  • Coordinated closely with international government relations teams across the globe on diplomatic outreach

  • Direct the team who will work to extend the reach of the gospel of Jesus Christ by coordinating and assuring the effective use of Church channels at the area level as well as close coordination with global channels that reach into the area

  • Oversee a unified approach to publishing and translation efforts in the area

  • Assign and develop staff to work closely with leaders to establish and train communication councils at the national, coordinating council, and stake level

Qualifications:

  • Hold valid temple-recommend.

  • BS degree (or its equivalent) in business, public relations, or a communication-related field with a minimum of fifteen years of professional-level experience

  • Demonstrate effective people management with at least five years of people-management experience

  • Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and organizational development skills

  • Experience in developing, designing, and executing strategic communication plans

  • Experience managing or organizational brand, reputation, internal communication, and external media relations

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas/processes in a straightforward way to leadership and communication teams at all levels

  • Excellent writing and editing skills both in the local language (if applicable) and English

Area Correlation Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Help the area presidency make strategic decisions about published products

  • Ensure that products categorized as high priority by the First Presidency and Twelve receive production priority from area translation resources

  • Supervises all product planning, doctrinal review, intellectual review, and research activities in the area

  • Ensure all production work in the area is done under a certified and updated product plan

  • Oversees all publishing projects and reviews to ensure clearly defined audiences, purposes, goals, and success measures before production begins

Area Human Resource Generalist
Asia North Area

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Area HR Manager, liaise with employees in the area (Japan, Korea, Guam, Micronesia, and Mongolia) and make necessary adjustments to resolve HR-related issues

  • Partner with the management to handle employee relations matters

  • Deliver essential HR activities, including HR core, talent development, culture, performance management, coaching, and calibration, job change consultation, change management support, and development programs tailored to area needs

  • Provide manager-level training and development program administration

Gardener (Yigo Temple)
Special Projects Department, Asia North Area

Responsibilities: 

  • Mow lawns using hand and power mowers. Maintains the original landscape plan by planting perennials, shrubs, and trees. 
  • Trims and edges around walls, flower beds, and walks using hand clippers and power edging tools. 
  • May operate heavy tractors and other large power equipment to maintain landscape.
  • Prune and shape shrubs and trees to provide optimum growth efficiency of plants and enhance beauty of grounds. 
  • Spray lawns, shrubs, and trees for disease, weed, and insect control, and perform regular fertilization as needed, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Responsible to see that all power equipment and machines are properly maintained.

Mechanic (Pohnpei, Micronesia)
Meetinghouse Facilities Department, Asia North Area

The Guam Micronesia Facilities Management Department is seeking to appoint a Mechanic. This is a full-time permanent position located at the Facility Management Office in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia. Responsibilities:

  • Perform low to medium-level repairs and maintenance work and other facility-care responsibilities such as custodial duties

  • Provide regular maintenance and preventative services to the meetinghouse and non-meetinghouse facilities, executing tasks with good workmanship while observing proper Health and Safety standards

  • Communicate and respond to customers’ needs in a timely and professional manner

 Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Area Meetinghouse Facilities Manager
Manager Meetinghouse Facilities Department, Asia North Area Office

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the planning, real estate, architecture, engineering, construction, and operations and maintenance functions through their respective managers by meeting regularly with discipline managers, and giving direction and counsel as needed to ensure the work is carried out successfully and personnel performance continuously improves.

  • Controls the expenditure of Church funds to provide meetinghouses by monitoring expenditures in relation to established budgets and policies.

  • Coordinates administrative functions by monitoring the progress of annual plan projects and other work, and reviewing requests for new projects.

  • Coordinates facilities activities with the DTA, Area Presidency, and all other Church entities, including all temporal and ecclesiastical groups and departments, through regular communication and coordination of decisions, and progress of annual plan projects.

  • The percentage of time spent on each responsibility is to be set by management.

Qualifications:

  • Current temple recommendation holder (limited temple recommendations are not acceptable).

  • Bachelor's Degree in architecture, engineering, or related area. (An MBA degree is preferred.) 

  • At least 7-10 years of experience in construction management and/or physical facilities administration is required, including broad involvement in all phases of real estate, architecture, engineering, construction, and operations and maintenance including at least 5 years of significant supervisory/management experience. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, solid leadership skills, and excellent trainer, with the ability to formulate strategy required. 

  • Must understand all processes and ensure end-to-end process integration.

  • Skill in negotiating is highly desirable.

  • Proficiency in written and oral English and Microsoft Office software.

CHURCH HISTORY AREA MANAGER (ASIA NORTH AREA)

The Church History Area Manager assists the Church History Department in its purpose to help God's children make and keep sacred covenants by managing all efforts to collect, preserve, and share Church history throughout the Asia North Areas.

Job Description:

  • Identify key people, places, events, and developments related to the Church in the Asia North Area.

  • Lead efforts to collect and preserve historically significant records (e.g., oral histories, photographs, journals, etc.).

  • Train and direct a network of volunteers to carry out Church History Department priorities & initiatives.

  • Provide information and support to Area Presidency and Area Office staff, contribute to area initiatives, develop plans and budgets, and actively participate in area committees.

  • Consult with Area Office personnel and other headquarters departments to share Church history through websites, publications, exhibits, historical markers, and anniversary events.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree OR equivalent experience in business management, history, library and archival studies, anthropology, religious studies, or other related fields.

  • 8-10 years of professional experience managing people and working cross-functionally with demonstrated abilities to teach, motivate, and mentor a volunteer workforce. Transnational experience desired.

  • Ability to thrive in collaborative situations, resolve difficult issues in a professional manner, perceive and analyze situations accurately, and meet objectives under strict deadlines.

  • Proven high-level interpersonal skills with the ability to engage appropriately with senior-level ecclesiastical and professional leaders.

  • Knowledge of Church history in the Asia and Asia North Areas and a broad understanding of general Church history, including proven research skills.

  • Strong oral & written communication skills in English. Knowledge of the languages spoken in the area is desired.
